Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By using CubChief, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Service description

CubChief is a smart pantry and shopping assistant. We provide:

  • Receipt scanning via AI (OCR + product extraction)
  • Shared household pantry management
  • Shopping list with promo-aware ordering
  • Recipe-based ingredient deduction

3. Account

You must be at least 18 years old. You are responsible for keeping your password secure.

4. Jam (in-app currency)

Jam is used to pay for AI-powered features (receipt OCR, AI-suggested recipes). Pricing is in EUR (Stripe). Starter jam (granted on signup) expires after 30 days. Purchased jam does not expire. Jam is not refundable except as required by law.

5. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Use the service for illegal purposes
  • Try to access others’ accounts
  • Submit content that infringes others’ rights
  • Probe, scan, or test the system’s vulnerability without permission

6. Termination

You may delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with reasonable notice.

7. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that AI-extracted product names are 100% accurate. Always verify important information.

7a. Mauritius supply realities

Mauritius is an island and most consumer goods are imported. As a result, products that are normally available may be temporarily out of stock at any given store while waiting for container deliveries. CubChief’s shopping list, promo flyer suggestions, and (where applicable) supply signals reflect what we have seen recently — not what is on the shelf at the moment you visit. We are not responsible for any inconvenience caused by a product being unavailable when you arrive at a store. Always check the store before relying on a planned purchase.

7b. Anonymous platform statistics

By default, your household’s usage data is included — in an anonymised, aggregated form, never identifiable to you or your household — in our platform statistics. We use this to improve the service and to understand demand patterns. The aggregation uses a k-anonymity threshold so that no single household can be inferred from the published numbers. You can opt out at any time in Settings → Household. Anonymous data already aggregated cannot be retrospectively removed, because by design it does not identify you.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Mauritian courts.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we will notify you and ask for your consent to the new version.
